Whew, that’s a lot of cool stuff.[ngg_images source=”galleries” container_ids=”193″ display_type=”photocrati-nextgen_basic_thumbnails” override_thumbnail_settings=”0″ thumbnail_width=”240″ thumbnail_height=”160″ thumbnail_crop=”1″ images_per_page=”6″ number_of_columns=”0″ ajax_pagination=”0″ show_all_in_lightbox=”1″ use_imagebrowser_effect=”0″ show_slideshow_link=”1″ slideshow_link_text=”[Show slideshow]” order_by=”sortorder” order_direction=”ASC” returns=”included” maximum_entity_count=”500″]For the uninitiated, WonderCon is an annual comic book, science fiction and film convention held in the Bay area. It began in 1987 and has since splintered into a few different fun events. Retailer John Barrett (who was one of the founders of the retail chain Comics and Comix) originally held the event in the Oakland Convention Center under the name Wonderful World of Comics Convention. Yearly attendance reaches as many 60,000
In 2001, WonderCon was integrated into the Comic-Con International convention family, giving San Diego Comic-Con a bigger venue for comic book-based movies and TV shows. It has since become one of the most popular pop culture conventions.
If you take a look at the amazing cosplay photos above, you can easily see why. Not only are these girls down with superhero movies, TV shows, comics and all other forms of nerdiness, but they’re also really, really hot. Especially in their costumes and outfits. I honestly think I’m going to meet my future wife at one of these things and we are going to be Batman and Batgirl for Halloween and all of you are going to be jealous!
